2007-01-01 — România aderă la Uniunea Europeană

Atât leul cât și zlotul au beneficiat de aderarea la UE, dar RON s-a apreciat mai puternic. Fluxurile de capital către noii membri ai UE au favorizat ambele monede, însă România a atras investiții suplimentare.

2020-03-11 — OMS declară pandemie COVID-19

Zlotul polonez s-a depreciat față de leu în primele săptămâni ale pandemiei. Banca Națională a Poloniei a redus dobânzile agresiv, slăbind moneda națională.

2022-02-24 — Rusia invadează Ucraina

Zlotul polonez a suferit o depreciere puternică, Polonia fiind vecină directă a Ucrainei. Cursul PLN/RON a scăzut pe fondul temerilor de escaladare a conflictului și al fluxului masiv de refugiați.
