Own ATM vs other bank's ATM
At your own bank's ATM, withdrawals are usually free. At another bank's ATM: 0.5% + fixed fee (min 4-5 RON). ING: free at any ATM in Romania.
Card in EUR, withdraw RON (or vice versa)
When your account is in one currency and you withdraw in another, the bank converts at the card network rate (Visa/Mastercard) + an FX markup (0-2%). The cost depends on the card issuing bank, not the ATM.
Revolut, Wise, N26
Fintechs offer limited free withdrawals (2-5/month). After the limit: 1.75-2%. Revolut adds +1% FX on weekends.
