Our mission

curs.online is an independent financial information platform dedicated to Romania. We provide free access to official exchange rates published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR), comparisons between banks and fintech services, professional financial calculators, and economic news impacting exchange rates.

Our goal is to help Romanian citizens, companies, tourists, and financial professionals make informed decisions regarding currency exchange, loans, investments, and taxes.

Data sources

• Exchange rates — Official XML feed of the National Bank of Romania (BNR), published daily at 13:00 EET
• Commercial bank rates — Public APIs from BCR, BRD, Raiffeisen Bank; estimates based on typical spreads for other banks
• Commodities — BNR (gold XAU), Yahoo Finance, Stooq.com
• Cryptocurrencies — CoinGecko API (prices in RON, EUR, USD)
• News — RSS: Ziarul Financiar, Economica.net, Profit.ro, Wall-Street.ro, HotNews, Mediafax, ECB, IMF, BBC
• ROBOR and IRCC — Official BNR data
• Inflation — National Institute of Statistics (INSSE), Eurostat

Technology

The platform is built with Python (FastAPI), uses SQLite databases with WAL mode for performance and reliability, and serves pre-rendered HTML pages (SSR) for optimal loading speed. All data is automatically updated via an integrated scheduler.
