About Rupie indiană (INR)
The Indian rupee (INR) is the currency of India, the world's most populous country. The Mahatma Gandhi series banknotes feature the father of the nation on the obverse, and Indian monuments and achievements on the reverse. In 2016, India abruptly demonetized the 500 and 1000 rupee notes, and the 2000 INR note was withdrawn from circulation in 2023. The ₹ symbol was adopted in 2010. The RBI targets an inflation rate of 4% (+/-2%) and promotes the digital rupee (e₹).
