About Real brazilian (BRL)
The Brazilian real (BRL) is the currency of Brazil, introduced in 1994 through the Plano Real, a reform that ended the country's chronic hyperinflation. Banknotes feature the allegory of the Republic (Efigia da Republica) on the obverse and animals specific to Brazilian fauna on the reverse. BRL is the main currency of South America and a commodity currency, linked to exports of soybeans, iron ore, meat, and sugar. The exchange rate is freely floating, managed by the BCB.
